They’re selling Courses and Secrets.
I’m a College Music Professor who runs an exclusive, private, and elite Guitar and Music Academy.
Sträusbaügh Guitar and Music Academy is a Magical Musical Sanctuary of Wonder and Delight.
Complete with a Wise Old Wizard!
S.G.M.A. is like if Berklee, Hogwarts, Bilbo’s Hobbit Hole, and Plato’s Akademy had a baby.
Unique and world-class elite and exclusive and all-encompassing but fun.
It’s a self-contained Musical ecosystem, shielded from all the videos and nonsense and Secrets to Unlock and Mysteries to Reveal.
S.G.M.A is The Very Best for those who are both Curious and Serious about finally developing a relationship with, and understanding of, Guitar and Music.
And that requires a Human Teacher, teaching you live and in real time.
NO. VIDEOS.
Sträusbaügh Guitar and Music Academy is 100% Active Guidance and Learning.
Guess which way actually works and is far more Kick-Ass and is actually real because you’re actually there?
We don’t ‘learn’ songs or Theory or even Guitar in any way you’re thinking. In fact, you’ll learn Music in ways even the original songwriters don’t know!
Instead, at S.G.M.A., the best songs and pieces of all Time become our Musical Playgrounds/Beat Laboratories where we play and explore and learn while developing as Guitar-Playing Musicians.
Here, our Guitars are both Musical and Scientific instruments. They become our Musical Swiss Army Knives as we build your complete Musical Toolbox.
It’s how I’ve lived up to my Personal and Musical Mission Statement for rollin’ up on 30 years:
To guide ‘Guitar Players’ into becoming ‘Guitar-Playing Musicians’….
By developing not only a comprehensive and holistic ‘Guitar and Music’ Skillset, but the Musical passion, knowledge and sense of personal investment required to do so.

Tell Me: How Cool Would It Be…
To finally find, at the exact right moment, your Guitar Gandalf.
Your Musical Mr. Miyagi. Yodelling Yoda?
What would that mean for you, as someone passionate about becoming a Guitar-Playing Musician?
Because what The Force meant to Yoda, and Karate meant to Mr. Miyagi, Music has meant to me since 1987.
Those guys are really, really good, and it has nothing to do with Crane Kicks, Lightsabers, or Guitars.
Those are just the physical, the ‘how to’ of something far greater. It’s all of it, the Life experience that is inseparable from The Force, Karate, Music.
It has a lot to do with the hairy shit we’ve seen along the way, and how my relationship with Guitar and Music only became possible through said hairy shit.
My specific ‘hairy shit’ is the less-cool relationship I share with a rare genetic disorder called Common Variable Immunodeficiency. It sucks LOL.
At 24, I was a talented, well-rounded Prog Metal Guitarist and Teacher with a BA in Classical Guitar.
By 28, everything was dead except me; Guitar, Future, my hands, my ear. For 10ish years, I survived Life, one day at a time.
At 36, I got a diagnosis and a Second Chance. By 42, I’d earned three Master’s degrees in Music and relearned how to play Guitar, better than ever.
Not bad, right?
Immediately began teaching full-time again, including a Bucket List year as a College Professor in Denver.
In 2022, I shared my story and parting message onstage at TEDxCSULB.
Dude, I know I’m biased, but come ON.
Wouldn’t you want that dude to be your Guitar and Music Mentor?!

The best way I can describe taking lessons with him is like getting into a college class with the professor that everyone likes regardless of department. Mike is definitely not a burnt out school teacher smoking cigarettes and drinking black coffee during breaks.
